Every year the European Council of American Chambers come together here in the United States (Washington DC) for their annual strategic summit.  The Chambers engage with commercial companies, non-profits, and government agencies.  This fosters a collaborative climate the also allows the Chamber executives and staff to keep us with U.S. business, economic, and political trends.

The U.S. Embassy, located in Riga, Latvia, led a Latvian energy sector delegation to the United States the week of April 08, 2013.  The U.S. Embassy's lead representative was Guntars Vičmanis, Commercial Assistant, within the Political/Economic Section.

The evening of October 4th was a special evening as the Embassy Music Series came to the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia.  It featured violinist Lorenzo Gatto, accompanied by pianist Robert Giordano.  The two were extraordinary and delivered passionate and lively renditions of Mozart, Beethoven, Kreisler, Tchaikovsky, and Ravel.

The Chamber welcomes Latvian Ambassador Andris Razans to the United States.  He officially began his duty on July 30, 2012.  He has nearly 20 years of experience in the Foreign Ministry and has already served as Latvia’s Ambassador to Denmark for five years.

Over the last several years there were many times where LatCham had the opportunity to work with Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics. He became an honorary member of the Chamber and often invited us to the Embassy for discussions about business, economics, and cultural events. He was always open to help and work with the Chamber and did so on many occasions.

The Latvian British Chamber of Commerce in the UK (LBCC) and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the Americas (LatCham) signed an International Cooperation Memorandum in August 2012, that is without term limits.  The Memorandum takes effect in September of 2012.

It was with great pleasure and honor that I participated in the NASDAQ stock exchange closing bell ceremony on July 22, 2011 with the Prime Minister of Latvia, Valdis Dombrovskis.  I was greeted by beautiful moving images of Latvia, both urban and pastoral, that were superimposed continuously on the semi-circular NASDAQ building in Times Square for the hundreds of thousands of New York City pedestrians to see.
